Healthy Schools eBook – An In-depth Guidebook from C.A.S.H

The coronavirus has placed a significant burden upon the world’s education sector. Our nation’s K-12 schools’ maintenance and facility departments now have the added responsibility of providing a clean, safe, and healthy learning environment for students and educators.

The Coalition for Adequate School Housing (CASH) Maintenance Network (CMN) has developed a guidebook titled, Healthy Schools: Cleaning, Disinfecting, Healthy Air Quality, Scheduling, and Social Distancing. The guidebook is intended to provide Best Management Practices (BMP) to assist schools with re-opening and remaining open safely during this global pandemic and beyond.

The guidebook is intended to offer a practical planning and site-level guide for maintaining schools in a COVID-19 environment. The guidebook covers five essential elements:

  • Health and Hygiene Guidelines for Staff and Students
  • Cleaning and Disinfecting Standards
  • Ventilation and Filtration to Improve Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)
  • Calculating Social Distancing and Scheduling for Staff and Students
  • Managing Fiscal Impact, Planning, Risk Management, and Communications.
